So who am I? I'm a sophomore at Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York, and I'm currently on track for a major in Electrical & Computer Engineering. My courses this semester include Math 293 (differential equations for engineers), Physics 214 (thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism), Asian Studies 298 (US-Vietnam War), Engrd 231 (digital logic), Engrd 232 (digital systems lab), and CS 211 (Java programming).

I live in Class of 1928 on the third (physically fourth) floor. These dorms have been remarkably quiet, though they do have carpeting throughout--something, er.. one of many things Donlon was lacking.

Our room is fairly small--roughly the size of my actual room (no common room) from last year. Our overhead light doesn't function... it blinks like a strobe/party light and makes the smoke alarm chirp. Our two desk lamps are covered by a thick shade, making night time a comfortable moody feel. Okay, we'll get the light fixed.

The campus and surrounding area here is quite beautiful. It looks very similar to the Willamette Valley back home. Ithaca is basically in a valley, and Cornell is located on the side of one of the hills surrounding the city. City, of course, is a general term used loosely here to define the existence of Ithaca, half of whose population is accounted for by the students, staff and faculty here at Cornell.

The winter season brings a predominantly white landscape from December through February, and in fact temperatures in January rarely rise above freezing. Soon, you'll be able to browse through the pictures for shots of the snow.
