Yes, I know, I haven't updated the journal in almost a week. But then again, I never gave any promises to begin with. In fact, I particularly remember mentioning the fact that the entries might become fewer and farther between as my free time decreased.
Well, part of that was true for this week--that being the part of the entries becoming fewer and farther between. As I reflect, my free time really hasn't decreased. It's just that the week really went by fast. The "oh, I just updated it.. like.. yesterday" thing sort of carried through the whole week. And here I am... oh my.. it still says "Monday"!
The only thing out-of-the-ordinary this past week was the Labor Day holiday, on which I did not attend the EMT course. Basically, because the PE department doesn't operate on the holiday... and also happens to be the *only* department that doesn't operate on that holiday.
I ordered my new printer last Saturday, an HP DeskJet 932C, directly from HP. The price was comparable to buy.com, who actually was selling the out-of-production 930C. It arrived by 2-Day FedEx on Thursday. By Friday we had successfully networked 2 other computers to print on it. It took some work with Windows 2000, all that matters is the outcome.
My favorite part of chemistry is the lab. Some might say, yeah, of course it is, yet others enjoy far more the nap they get in a 50 minute lecture as opposed to being subjected to quizzes and non-stop activity for 3 full hours in lab. As I mentioned before, the TA has a Ph.D. in chemistry and is much more likeable than your standard-issue grad student (nothing against grad students, since I'll be one of them soon enough). This week, we burned different salts and mixtures of salts to find their respective emission wavelengths. Those of you who had AP chemistry should recognize the lab. Except this time, the flames are bigger, brighter, and better than ever. Not to mention the fact that the molarity of these salts are 3-4 times stronger than we have in high school. Those people "downstairs" don't play around.
My two most enjoyable classes are turning out to be the 4 hour EMT course and the Philosophy 100 writing seminar... big surprise, eh?
Today I fulfilled my need for R&R... slept in until 11, played computer games, did a little homework, and otherwise enjoyed the first half of the weekend.
Until next time,
Aaron
PS. Extra bonus points to you if you notice(d) what was wrong with Monday, September 2.
