Wow it's been quite a long time! I think it's the longest break of non-journal-updating I've ever had! So what's happened since last time...
The big event was Parents' Weekend, of course. So my parents came in late Thursday night. I met up with them Friday morning after math and we had lunch in the Statler's fancy restaurant! Very nice--and quite competitively priced. So then we went to chemistry (see the pictures). I prepped them ahead of time to the common words our professor shouts every now and then. It was pretty funny to hear him say them after that.
Other events with the parents included watching the Big Red v. Dartmouth game. Nicely packed crowd considering the alumni count on campus that weekend. The previous weekend was a big alumni event, and so Parents' Weekend coexisted with invite-the-big-donators-back weekend. The game was actually interesting... everyone kept scoring. Well, especially Cornell I suppose.
Among other things, the major attractions included a shopping trip to K-Mart, dinner at The Station restaurant, and another dinner at Taco Bell. Gotta love the Chalupas. Although, the east coast doesn't seem to be too fond of Tostadas. They didn't even exist at this Taco Bell. Although, both parents ended up having one anyway. That's quite a long story (and a funny one), but it's a little late in the evening to explain. They also got to see a mock CUEMS call, which is a setup event to train a crew chief candidate (also see the pictures).
So they left Sunday afternoon before I headed for lifeguarding. I actually got to lifeguard the pool all by myself today! I sort of expected it, since a "looking for a sub" e-mail went out from my co-lifeguard a couple weeks ago. But no replacement showed.
So Monday I had a quiz in EMT class, stayed up with De-en to complete the CS project for Tuesday, wrote an essay on Tuesday, did medical patient assessment in EMT lab Wednesday, did my Chemistry lab report and prelab for Thursday later that day, experimented with chemical equilibrium (acid-base titrations) in Chemistry lab (with some REALLY COOL digital pH meters), worked out my Spring semester schedule later that night, and finalized my schedule earlier today and submitted it right before my Engineering math workshop this afternoon. That is my week in one huge sentence!
So tomorrow (Saturday), I will be on EMS crew dedicated to a Taekwondo tournament (as opposed to 'Tae Kwon Do'--is there a difference?) being held in central campus from 10am-3pm. The tournament lasts longer, but another crew takes over. EMS members who staffed these events in the past say that something ALWAYS happens. I am bound and determined to change history! No one will get hurt this time--knocking on wood now--as long as I have anything to do with it!
Check out the pictures, new 2nd semester schedule, and random word.
Until next time (preferably not so long from now)...
