Hello again! Nothing much new to update you with. This week was pretty standard as far as weeks go--the normal daily routine. I had a quiz in Physics section on Thursday, and I did very well.
So I had another EMS shift last night, but not an overnight. No calls at all during my hours. However, no one needed to be picked up for the overnight shift, so we had to wait for them to arrive. Then, at around 11:20, we get a call to a residence hall for an asthma attack. Yes, another lights and siren ride, but I wasn't up front (just an extra body). Boy did we drive fast! But safely of course! Ithaca Fire actually beat us to the scene by about a minute.
Recently, New York State has changed their protocols to allow basic life support crews (like CUEMS) to carry albuterol (ingredient in most asthma inhalers) to give by small volume nebulizer. This is the thing that hooks up to an oxygen tank and makes that smoke/mist stuff that you breathe in. Unfortunately, ours hasn't been ordered yet. This would have been a perfect case. Even the fire department isn't carrying it yet.
I run another shift tonight, possibly a haircut tomorrow, then it's back to my weekly routine!
Aaron
