Hello again! Just a few more days to go until Spring Break!! I'm very excited!
The most important event since last week was the housing lottery. On Saturday I had only a few hours to determine where I could live and with whom I was to live, and then given only a few minutes to actually decide where I am going to live. The process is ambiguous and has major faults. The blocking process (of grouping with an individual with a "better" lottery number) sounds promising at first, but there are details that they have left out, like the fact that you cannot have an odd person in a block group. This means if you are going to block (take up adjacent rooms), you must fill up all blocked rooms with people... of the same gender, of course.
Even though, I managed to snag a double on west campus, in Class of '28. I'll be rooming with someone who is just as (if not more) fanatic about EMS as I am. We actually went to visit the dorm and saw the room across the hall. Not too shabby... about 170 square feet, which is a fair size for the res halls in that area.
I ran a 7-11pm EMS shift that (Saturday) night. I was very productive in getting homework done, and we had no calls up until about 10:30. After hearing a situation involving CUPD over the radio, we decided to cruise in that direction in case we were needed. Sure enough, they had a use for us in bandaging a superficial laceration that appeared to have occurred prior to CUPD's arrival.
Tomorrow night I have a prelim exam for my Intro to Engineering course. It shouldn't be that difficult, given the fact that it will be open book, open note, open homework, open labwork, open...
My Friday math lecture has been "renamed" a "Q&A session," and well, since I don't have many Q's, I think it might be best to concentrate my studious efforts somewhere else.
Again, looking forward to break--good food, good people, and possibly another ridealong with AMR! Fun stuff, so until next time,
Aaron
