Happy Easter!

We got a call last night! Semi-responsive EtOH in Collegetown. Ended up being a homeless Ithaca resident who had occupied that location in the lawn chair all day. When he refused to move along, the police asked to dispatch Bangs to transport to the hospital. Being an EtOH and technically on Cornell property (the entrance of a Collegetown dorm, just off the sidewalk), we were dispatched as well. Surprisingly, we had enough time to get in a thorough assessment before Bangs arrived.

Tomorrow is my EMT class written final exam! Hopefully won't be too hard. Then, the mac daddy of all EMT exams, the practical exam for New York State certification. Once I pass that, the coast is clear. Then I'll take my National Registry written exam.. that way when I save someone's life in Oregon when I'm off duty and get my Oregon certification revoked, I'll still be an EMT! Then when Oregon EMS tries to call NREMT and beg them to revoke my certification for saving someone's life while not riding on an ambulance, they'll be laughed at. Am I bitter?

This coming Thursday I'll have a prelim exam in my intro engineering course. Not exactly sure what topics will be covered, and they're not really sure if they'll have a review session. But I'm fairly confident in the end all will be well.

SLOPE DAY 2001! It's coming Friday, May 4, and I'll be running all day! So for those unfamiliar with Cornell tradition, Slope Day is an annual campus event that involves students, staff and faculty on the slope between central and west campus. It's an event to celebrate the end of classes, and is aknowledged by the administration, but not officially recognized. It's true that classes are still "in session"... uh huh... Considering chances are your faculty are even on the slope getting wasted. Wait did I say wasted? I meant... engaging in recreational activities with their peers.

EMS gets between 50-100 calls on Slope Day, split up between several walking crews, a base station first aid tent, and the truck. Bangs has two units that stand by (and actually let us handle all EtOH calls until we request them), as well as an advanced life support golf cart that allows them to maneuver a paramedic and all necessary equipment up the slope and amidst the crowd.

I think that's all my material for today. Enjoy your Easter weekend! Only three weeks left of classes, meaning just 14 more days! How exciting...
