The weeks are going by rather quickly these days, and now only two weeks and a few days until I'm on my way home! Plus, only 4 more days of classes.

My EMT class is now officially over. It ended Wednesday with the extrication lab, held at the new Cayuga Heights fire station. It's a 15 minute walk from North Campus. They had two junk cars for us to use as a mock MCI (multiple casualty incident) motor vehicle accident. The class was divided into two groups--one did the mock MCI, and the other toured the way cool heavy rescue truck from Lansing Fire, which contains nearly everything you might need for a huge fire or rescue effort, including six versions of the jaws of life! It also has room inside to transport about 10 people and their gear and acts as a mobile command station for any MCI.

The best part of the lab was getting to wear full firefighter (turnout) gear. Not only did it make us all look cool, we also needed the protection from the broken glass and torn car parts.

I had my very last prelim exam of my first year last night. It was Math 192, and wasn't too hard. We are given solution sheets right after the test so we can get an idea of how we did. I didn't get a perfect score, but my actual grade will depend on how the rest of the 200+ students did.

Tomorrow night is the annual EMS banquet, a non-alcoholic (yes, really!) party to celebrate the end of the year. Then Sunday is the last training meeting, purely Slope Day oriented. Then of course, the last week of classes--no exams or anything--and then Slope Day on Friday. I will be running in some fashion from 8am to 11pm. The last 4 hours will be in the truck, but most of the day will be cruising the slope.

Then I have just one week of studying, and a couple days of final exams! Then off to Oregon!!
