Ok, I'm in! The EMT course is for sure, and I'm in it. What does this mean? Well, by next class I will have signed 140+ hours of my life and $765 of my parents' money away to this course. Even so, I think it will be worth the effort and expense. I will keep you updated as to the course progress and my activities in it.
For all who have yet to enter college: NEVER SIGN UP FOR AN 8AM CLASS. No matter how desperate you are to fit it in your schedule. Anything before 9:00 is bad, wrong, evil, satanic... whatever your belief. Regardless of how easy the course may seem, the time will get you in the end. It will eat you alive, degrade your morale, scrape away at your sanity. What's worse, the department who happily accepts your 8:00 registration will suddenly turn on you when you decide to switch out. They are no longer your friend. They are your enemy. This is war.
I applied to CUEMS (Cornell University Emergency Medical Services). Even though it's volunteer, I will have the opportunity to have NY State reimburse $600 of my EMT course should I be accepted into CUEMS. Out of an average 80 applicants, they take only 15-20. We shall see.
Today in Chem we learned about... get this... atoms. Yes, atoms. Even radioactive ones. We were lectured on alpha particles, beta particles, and gamma rays. Even the hard-to-grasp concepts of protons, electrons, and neutrons. Hey, did you know a neutron is neutral? Chemistry is boring me. I'm in this one for the A.
Today De-En's computer arrived. And as of today, 3 more computers were added to ResNet (Cornell's ethernet network)... Kevin's, Kevin's and De-En's. We're wired now. Gamelin's notebook is slated for arrival tomorrow. We are the nerd room. To drive the nail even further, as I type, we are discussing possibly networking a laser and an inkjet printer. Quite cool. Heck with this $0.10/page nonsense.
Went to St. Luke's Lutheran on Sunday. 2nd service I've attended, but this time it was held upstairs in their newly renovated sanctuary. The atmosphere is much like home!
Until next time...
Aaron
